Lauren Vicary is the Vice President for Editorial at the Center for American Progress, where she manages the Art, Video, and Editorial teams producing both print and web content for American Progress. A 20-year veteran of political journalism, Lauren launched numerous digital properties for several news organizations.
Previously, Lauren was the political editor for Bloomberg’s digital team where she developed and launched Bloomberg.com’s politics and elections websites, and the Political Capital newsletter and blog. Before Bloomberg, she was an editor and contributor at PoliticsDaily.com as well as the political editor at NBCNews.com, where she launched their politics and elections websites and achieved record-breaking traffic during the 2008 election cycle. Lauren began her tenure in Washington, D.C., at the Associated Press, where she spent nearly a decade in various roles including reporter, assignment manager, and lead political producer, and was instrumental in the launch of the AP’s digital operations in Washington. Lauren was also a reporter for ABC and CBS affiliates, and a program director at both PBS and Time-Life Video and Television.
A native of Erie and State College, Pennsylvania, Lauren holds a B.A. in English from the University of Pennsylvania, where she started her journalism career as a reporter and photographer for The Daily Pennsylvanian and WXPN radio.
